crazy-good

Every now and again life surprises you with an experience that is beyond words, crazy-good, immeasurably joyful! That happened to me this past week. While visiting Jordan I was wowed by the grandeur of Petra, found a beautifully striped beetle, climbed over rocks of every imaginable hue, smelled flowers perfumed to the highest heavens, tasted fruit I never knew existed and rode a donkey, horse and camel-- all in a matter of hours! We crossed terrain that looked like the surface of Mars. (Actually--they filmed the movie The Martian here! Go figure!)

I had not been expecting to end my Holy Land Pilgrimage* on such a wonderfully high note, but God was not surprised. He took the opportunity to thrill me to pieces!

What was my take-away?

God is crazy good! (And if you have ever ridden a camel-- you might think just straight-up crazy!)

I realized through this that God delights in delighting me! He loves to surprise and even intoxicate me with joy and wonder. He longs to woo me (and you) through His incredible creations of beauty.

So my response back is this: I have decided to let Him!

I do not want to let a single day pass without noticing something new and spectacular He has created. I have taken it all for granted for way too long. He has written me love letter after love letter, everyday, and I have left so many unopened.

I have decided to make a “crazy-good” journal and record the tiny and the huge ways God and His creation delight me--the clever ways God winks at me and tells me He loves me.

Today’s entry:

Each beautiful cherry blossom I examined was exquisite and unique. The petals were like tissue paper, soft to the touch and blushed with the slightest tinge of pink.

Thank You for thinking of me.

I hope this might inspire you in some small way to not let the beauty that is all around you everyday go unnoticed or unappreciated.

God is crazy-good and He has created a whole world out there just to let us know how Good He is. Go out--and be surprised! He is waiting to whisper to you, “I love you” with every starry night, dawn, sunset and all that is in between. So...let Him.

"By the LORD’s word the heavens were made; by the breath of his mouth all their host.

Let all the earth fear the LORD; let all who dwell in the world show him reverence."

Psalm 33:6,8

Dear Lord,

You spoil me. Thank You for the ways You think of me: butterflies, flowers, my daughter’s sweet face! Please open my eyes to the everyday beauty around me and let me give You thanks and praise--because You are crazy-good! Praises be to You!

I ask this in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
