super-star

Hey Super-Star! Yeah--I’m talking to you!

Did you know that you are about 93% stardust? Not just you...all of us!

Surprised? Look it up! (http://www.physicscentral.com/explore/poster-stardust.cfm)

With the earth-rattling news and pictures of colliding neutron stars that surfaced last week and the interesting facts that were brought to light due to it, my head is exploding with thoughts of outer space (and Biblical history. LOL! See last week’s post).

Not only are we made up of stardust, but everything we eat, drink, wear and breath was once a part of the cosmos.

“When the solar system formed, it started to freeze gas into ice and dust particles. They would grow and grow by colliding. Eventually gravity pulled them together to form planets. The planets are like big vacuum cleaners, sucking in everything around them. But they didn't complete the job. There's still an awful lot of dust floating around.” *Astrophysicist Karel Schrijver, a senior fellow at the Lockheed Martin Solar and Astrophysics Laboratory

And according to scientists about 40,000 tons of cosmic dust falls to earth each year. But it was not until the recent great collision that we were better able to understand it.

“Astronomers announced on Monday that they had seen and heard a pair of dead stars collide, giving them their first glimpse of the violent process by which most of the gold and silver in the universe was created.

The collision, known as a kilonova, rattled the galaxy in which it happened 130 million light-years from here in the southern constellation of Hydra, and sent fireworks across the universe. …Such explosions, astronomers have long suspected, produced many of the heavier elements in the universe, including precious metals like gold, silver and uranium...

This gong show happened when a pair of neutron stars, the shrunken dense cores of stars that have exploded and died, collided at nearly the speed of light. These stars are masses as great as the sun packed into a region the size of Manhattan brimming with magnetic and gravitational fields.

Studying the fireball from this explosion, astronomers have concluded that it had created a cloud of gold dust many times more massive than the Earth, confirming kilonovas as agents of ancient cosmic alchemy.” ** --The New York Times

Due to the collision of these two dying stars, scientists estimated that an amount of gold equal to 40 to 100 times the mass of the Earth could have been produced over just a few days and was blown into space, on it’s way to making up some new beautiful planet.

Why do I bring this up?

Do you ever feel like your life is spinning out of control? Imploding?

Have you had a major “life-collision”? Relationship break-up? Job loss? Even death?

Do not fear. God is still in control. I am quite confident that the God Who created the stars and is still creating and re-creating everything we see will bring with any catastrophic event in your life… an incredible weight of gold dust in its path. This gold dust will be used by the Master to produce new and beautiful creations.

The cosmos has proven: the bigger the explosion, the greater and more precious the results.

God can take anything and use it for His great glory and purposes, if we keep our eyes on Him. Hang in there… I am praying for you.

“Therefore, we are not discouraged; rather, although our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this momentary light affliction is producing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to what is seen but to what is unseen; for what is seen is transitory, but what is unseen is eternal.“

2 Corinthians 4:16-18

Dear Lord,

Help. I need You to take my entire life, especially the parts that seem to be spinning out of control, and use them to create gold dust for Your glory. I confess that I do not understand all that You are doing, but I choose as an act of the will to trust in You. Please help me to keep my eyes open and my focus on You knowing that You can bring great good out of great tragedy and sorrow. Please give me Your grace, Oh Lord, to cling tightly to You and Your promises. Thank You Lord, that this earth is only my temporary home. May I find my rest and peace dwelling in Your presence. Keep me close to Your heart, dear Lord.

I ask this in the Name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Disclaimer: I believe in creation as laid forth in the Bible but I also believe that the Bible and science can walk hand in hand. Genesis states that God created the heavens and the earth, but it does not explain the exact process of how He did it. :) Science only helps to prove my belief in what sometimes seem to be the unbelievable...God is still in the business of creation.
