Jesus is King

Sooo… this week has been quite a doozy for me. Between living in D.C. during the heated election process, personal health issues, and business deals on the table that suddenly became fuzzy, I have been stretched in ways I am not accustomed to bending. Tomorrow is my birthday, and with age has come wisdom. Scratch that. On my best days, with age has come the acceptance of reality. As a gift from me to you, I now pass on what has taken me several decades to learn for myself.

Here it is:

I am not in charge.

And guess what--neither are you!

THANK GOODNESS!

Isn’t it nice to know that no matter what happens, God is still on His throne and ultimately Jesus is King? Good or bad in this world, this truth will always remain.

'“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God almighty, who was, and who is, and who is to come.’ Whenever the living creatures give glory and honor and thanks to the one who sits on the throne, who lives forever and ever, the twenty-four elders fall down before the one who sits on the throne and worship him, who lives forever and ever. They throw down their crowns before the throne, exclaiming: ‘Worthy are you, Lord our God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things; because of your will they came to be and were created.’” Revelation 4:8-11

“Then I saw the heavens opened, and there was a white horse; its rider was [called] ‘Faithful and True.’... “He has a name written on his cloak and on his thigh, ‘King of kings and Lord of lords.”’ Revelation 19:11,16

The Bible is very clear about our responsibility. Here is what Ephesians 4:25-32 says are the rules for the “New Life”:

“Therefore, putting away falsehood, speak the truth, each one to his neighbor, for we are members one of another. Be angry but do not sin; do not let the sun set on your anger, and do not leave room for the devil. The thief must no longer steal, but rather labor, doing honest work with his [own] hands, so that he may have something to share with one in need. No foul language should come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for needed edification, that it may impart grace to those who hear. And do not grieve the holy Spirit of God, with which you were sealed for the day of redemption. All bitterness, fury, anger, shouting, and reviling must be removed from you, along with all malice. [And] be kind to one another, compassionate, forgiving one another as God has forgiven you in Christ.”

But beyond that, we must leave the final outcome of all, no matter what you are dealing with, up to God. We must trust that He has our very best interest at heart. We must not fear the future. That goes for us personally and corporately.

We must always remember this: All is well, God is on His throne. Go to the Adoration Chapel, worship Him there and find out for yourself.

“In the year King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord seated on a high and lofty throne, with the train of his garment filling the temple. Seraphim were stationed above; each of them had six wings: with two they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they hovered. One cried out to the other: ‘Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts! All the earth is filled with his glory!’ At the sound of that cry, the frame of the door shook and the house was filled with smoke.” Isaiah 6:1-4

Dear Lord,

I confess, I am often worried about so many things I can do nothing about. I ask for the grace to worship You, get my perspective straight, and relax in Your loving care for me. I love you Lord. Teach me to love You more. I trust You Lord. Teach me to trust You more.

I ask this in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
