provision

Ay yi yi! Snow! Work! Kids! (Dare I even say it…?) LENT!!! Over Valentine’s day!? (Whose big idea was that?) Really Lord? I’m being stretttttched and strettttched beyond what I think is reasonable.

I often want to say… “Hello up there! Do you see me? Do you even care?” And then… I see this... little birdie tracks in the snow. What beautiful reminders of the Father’s love and provision for even the tiniest of His creations. Suddenly my “What about me???” melts into the realization and appreciation of the fact that, if He watches over them, He is watching very carefully over me as well. He sees. He cares.

Ahhh...sweet peace again. All is well... eyes off self and back onto God.

This song so beautifully states it all!

Why should I feel discouraged Why should the shadows come Why should my heart feel lonely And long for heaven and home

When Jesus is my portion A constant friend is he His eye is on the sparrow And I know he watches over me His eye is on the sparrow And I know he watches me

I sing because I'm happy I sing because I'm free His eye is on the sparrow And I know he watches He watches me His eye is on the sparrow And I know he watches I know he watches I know he watches me

Listen to it and allow it to be your gentle reminder today that God sees, cares, loves you and truly appreciates all of your efforts, even if you feel they go unappreciated or even unnoticed by others. They truly matter to Him, and in the end, that’s all that really matters.

Are not two sparrows sold for a small coin? Yet not one of them falls to the ground without your Father’s knowledge. Even all the hairs of your head are counted. So do not be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows. Matthew 10:29-31

Dear Lord,

SELF! SELF! SELF! Eyes on SELF are never a good thing! Thank You for Lent where I find myself stretched and in greater need of You. Please give me the grace to see that You and Your provision are enough and that You will never leave or forsake me, that Your loving eye is on all. I can be greatly encouraged by Your watchful care. Thank You Lord. I need You. Each day, help me to see the graces that come my way in the moment that provide for my every need. I have only to look to You, not this world, for my fulfilment (or thanks.) You are enough for me.

I ask this in the name of the Father, the Son and Holy Spirit. Amen.
