the amateur catholic
"That's all any of us are: amateurs. We don't live long enough to be anything else." Charlie Chaplin
I am an amateur. The word in French means "lover"... and that is exactly what I am-- a lover of Jesus, of the Faith, of the Church, of what I have found in all of them that is life-giving and true. I am not an expert, nor am I, as my father would say, a "salesman of God". I am simply a "satisfied customer" and I am here to tell you what I have found. Along this journey of faith the road has been, well, bumpy at times and at others-- I had to check and see if my feet were still touching the ground-- I would say the best words to describe that state would be, "heavenly... just heavenly."
I am just like you. I am a seeker of God, of good, of truth, of joy and peace and love-- of all that makes life this side of the curtain worth living--and by God's grace I have found it--or I should say, it has found me.
Come with me as we allow God to do what God does... re-create us into HIs image by His grace, mercy and love. Let's become all He intends for us to be by the "renewing of our minds" to His truth.
Let's begin our journey together. Let's ask for the grace to experience a Metamorphosis of our Soul.
Dear Lord, I want to know You better. I want to please You in all that I do. I want to be transformed. Open my heart. Give me the grace to "throw open wide the doors of my heart" to You, to have You come in and fill me, and after that, to never be the same because of this amazing encounter. I am sorry where I have failed you. Thank you for your mercy and forgiveness. Give me a desire to want to know and love You more each day. Let me not fear one single step I take that brings me closer to You, because You, dear Lord, are Love and Mercy itself. I ask this--
In the Name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
