Wait for it...wait for it...not quite yet…

I HATE WAITING! I want it NOW!!! I WANT EVERYTHING RIGHT NOW!!!

It pains me to wait. I have been programed to be impatient by just about everything in my world...texting, email, Google (all of life’s questions answered at the press of a button), my microwave, Ramen noodles, drive through “everything”, buying on credit, Amazon “one-click...” You name it… I can have it-- and FAST! That is the way of our world. I have become used to a -- rush to get to the next thing-- way of life.

If I think I can just “download” God and be on my way, I have certainly not gotten too far down the road in my spiritual life inspite of all of my hurry to get somewhere.

I must stop, pull over, and ask myself…”What am I in such a rush to get to -- if not to Him?” He is the GREATEST thing that we can experience on this earth.

This is what Advent is all about… learning to wait, learning to be patient, learning from HIM!

If I take a moment to contemplate Him, I will see He is a God of great patience.

The God who INSTANTANEOUSLY SPOKE the World into existence [at His Word the heavens and the earth were created] took NINE MONTHS to FORM HIMSELF in the womb of the Blessed Virgin. He chose to take that long! Infinite Jesus shrunk into extremely finite humanity. What a thought!

The God Who is not bound by time or space...chose to become one of us!

Why?

So He could experience ALL that we have to experience, so He could be like us in ALL ways… only with out sin.

What was in it for Him?

Us.

He gained us.

And better yet...we gained Him. We can experience God come to earth...Emmanuel, God with us... everyday. He came, He is here and He is coming again!

Some things are worth the wait.

He is waiting for you.

“For the bread of God is that which comes down out of heaven, and gives life to the world...For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me.” John 6:33, 38

Dear Lord,

You are worth the wait! Thank You for leaving the expanse and glory of infinite heaven to come to finite earth. Thank You that Your ways are not my ways, nor your timing my timing. Help me to slow down, be patient not be in such a hurry to “have a better life” that I miss the best part of it altogether-- You and the things of You.

Lord, give me the grace to just “be”.

I ask this in the Name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
